The 2024 PiratePalooza™ will begin on Saturday, Octobarrrr 5th
PiratePalooza is FREE!
Scheduled on the weekend nearest to Talk Like A Pirate Day1, the PiratePalooza™ Pubcrawl is the ultimate inland meeting of pirates, buccaneers, rascals, rogues, scoundrels, ruffians and scalawags this side of the bounding main. It’s an invasion, a sack, a pub crawl and a great way to meet other enthusiasts of the piratical arts ending in a fantastic pub sing starring some of the most popular renfest bands of our time! Follow Captain Drew and his crew as they wend their way through the ale houses of downtown Decatarrr on their way to the big Palooza at the end of the night!
Captain Scurvy Pete leads his crew of The Heaving Bosom, pillaging the eight seas with his razor sharp wit, explosive personal emissions, and a outlandish fear of citrus. He is often seen accompanied by his trusty cabin boy, with whom he has an inexplicable attraction to, named Curvy. When Captain Drew asked them to add their sea shanties to the entertainments of PiratePalooza™, Curvy brokered an agreement to have all access passes for the entire Palooza season as well as Lifetime Membership into the famed Cardboard*Con.
Celebrating more than 10 years as musical sisters, Ariana Pellayle and Rosemary Quench (sans a very tipsy Wicked Pete Speakeasy) will bid you to "Drink Hail!" once more as they return to PiratePalooza™ in a special engagement as 'Half Pint', two-thirds of the group Three Quarter Ale. Be prepared for some high energy wench action!
Bourne of a friendship forged by wind and wave, the duo known as Landloch'd evokes the craggy grandeur of the Scottish highlands and the rolling mysteries of the deep blue seas. Edward the Redbeard, a Scotsman, was forced to flee his native land after an "incident" with a rogue bagpiper who just happened to be the King's nephew. His partner in song, Esteban Diego de Castile, is a Spanish Moor who left for the high seas to escape religious persecution by the Inquisitor Queen, Isabella.[Facebook]
Get ready for a time-bending appearance by the Renaissance Faire supergroup Linen Brocade, featuring Ariana Pellayle from Three Quarter Ale, Tom Smiter of the Lost Boys, and Adam Dandy the Highwayman from the 1980s. Be there to see them stand and deliver!
What happens when you mix 8 types of rum with Israel Hands and Willam Foley? The whackiest sea shanties on the high seas! Tag along with these lads to hear songs like "The Anchor Done Sank" and "Did You Steal Me Rum, Harvey?" and "Seriously Harvey, Did You Take My Rum??". Pogue Mahone means "Up with Grog" in some languages.
The Tenpenny Travelers have become popular regulars with the Palooza fans and we all look forward to their sprightly harmonies and songs of the sea! We’re happy to announce that the Travelers (Mike Quigley, Ariel Stewart, Tara Maurer, and Katherine Maurer) are planning to join us again this year!
Toucan Dubh is made up of Julia Campbell, Ian O'Donnell and Linda Hoopes. Each talented musicians in their own right, Ian, Julia & Linda team up to bring a zeal and flavor to their performances that will leave you wanting more.
Known for its time-honed harmonies and its deep & varied library of music of the British Isles, Wine Woman & Song is comprised of Concord Grapellwyn ("wine"), Naughty Nellie Peachbottom ("woman"), and Renwick Sangster ("song"). You’ll have a rollicking bloody fantastic time singing along with these classic minstrels!
Scurvy pirates of all descriptions will begin to slink into Mister Twain's steamboat pub to plan their mutiny. Whilst there they might slit a few throats or have a nice sandwich.
211 E Trinity Place, Decatur, GA 30030-3414 (404) 373-0063
The rumthirsty Crew will depart the house of ale and take to the streets of Decatarrrr!
The growing band of treasure-seekers swarm the stairs to The Belgian Bar, the infamous den of pirates. There, they will quaff many ales, sing many shanties, tell tall tales of their adventures ‘pon the sea and look for new recruits for their next voyage.
125 East Court Square, Decatur, Georgia 30030 (404) 687-0990
Once we’ve sopped up all the tasty kegs of Belgian beer, we’ll ramble over to the plaza haunted by the ghost of Commodore Steven Decatur!
Inevitably some challenge will arise between rival crews that can only be sorted through combat, and since the Palooza is holy grounds for pirates the world round, the only combat allowed is a dance of the Virginia Reel! Marvel as dozens of pirates sashay up and down the promenade in front of the ghost of Commodore Stephen Decatur!
Directly above the MARTA station, Decatur GA 30030
After a long and hard fought dance our pirate crews assail the bars lining the walk, concentrating on O’Sullivan’s, reknowned for its spirited Irish service. Keep an eye (your good eye) on your coinpurse, as it will be crowded and you can never trust a pirate!
111 Sycamore Street, Decatur GA 30030, (404) 377-8050
A grand tradition of PiratePalooza™ is the annual limited-edition T-shirt which will be shipped directly to you. Jump over and take a look at the PiratePaloozaGear™ Section for a history of PiratePalooza™'s highly-prized form of bosom-clinging attire!
