Follow us for info about the next PiratePalooza™!
PiratePalooza is FREE!
Scheduled on the weekend nearest to Talk Like A Pirate Day1, the PiratePalooza™ Pubcrawl is the ultimate inland meeting of pirates, buccaneers, rascals, rogues, scoundrels, ruffians and scalawags this side of the bounding main. It’s an invasion, a sack, a pub crawl and a great way to meet other enthusiasts of the piratical arts ending in a fantastic pub sing starring some of the most popular renfest bands of our time! Follow Captain Drew and his crew as they wend their way through the ale houses of downtown Decatarrr on their way to the big Palooza at the end of the night!
Playful. Evocative. Bawdy. Sublime. High-energy performances with lush harmony and puckish humor. [Facebook]
What happens when you mix 8 types of rum with Israel Hands and Willam Foley? The whackiest sea shanties on the high seas! Tag along with these lads to hear songs like "The Anchor Done Sank" and "Did You Steal Me Rum, Harvey?" and "Seriously Harvey, Did You Take My Rum??". Pogue Mahone means "Up with Grog" in some languages.
Fresh from their appearances at the Georgia Renaissance Festival, Naughty Nellie Peachbottom and Joni Minstrel will drift ashore at PiratePalooza as The Shipwreckers, and they ain't messin' around. [Facebook]
The Tenpenny Travelers have become popular regulars with the Palooza fans and we all look forward to their sprightly harmonies and songs of the sea! We’re happy to announce that the Travelers (Mike Quigley, Ariel Stewart, Tara Maurer, and Katherine Maurer) are planning to join us again this year!
Celebrating more than 20 years of roaming the land, Ariana Pellayle, Rosemary Quench, and Wicked Pete Speakeasy are one of the most popular and original renfaire bands to ever grace the stages of Newcastle. They will bid you to "Drink Hail!" once more as they return to PiratePalooza™ in a very, very special engagement.
Toucan Dubh is made up of Julia Campbell, Ian O'Donnell and Linda Hoopes. Each talented musicians in their own right, Ian, Julia & Linda team up to bring a zeal and flavor to their performances that will leave you wanting more.
Scurvy pirates of all descriptions will begin to slink into Mister Twain's steamboat pub to plan their 20th invasion of Decatarrrr!
211 E Trinity Place, Decatur, GA 30030-3414 (404) 373-0063
The rumthirsty Crew will depart the house of ale and take to the streets of Decatarrrr!
Inevitably some challenge will arise between rival crews that can only be sorted through combat, and since the Palooza is holy grounds for pirates the world round, the only combat allowed is a dance of the Virginia Reel! Marvel as dozens of pirates sashay up and down the promenade in front of the ghost of Commodore Stephen Decatur!
Directly above the MARTA station, Decatur GA 30030
Our pirate crews will assail the bars and ice cream shops on the southerly side of the plaza, concentrating on O’Sullivan’s Irish Pub, renowned for its spirited Irish service. O’Sullivan’s will be our home base for the remainder of the crawl but be sure to get yourself a ride over to the final destination of Wild Heaven in Avondale Estates by 7pm!
111 Sycamore Street, Decatur GA 30030, (404) 377-8050
A shore party will depart for The Marlay House Irish Pub (former site of the The Angel) for a quick pint to commemorate the site of the very first PiratePalooza 20 years ago. This trip will not be for the faint of heart (or foot) so please feel free to remain at O'Sullivan's. Be sure to get yourself a ride over to the final destination of Wild Heaven in Avondale Estates by 7pm!
426 W Ponce de Leon Ave, Decatur, GA 30030, (404) 270-9950
Our famous pub sing makes a return to Avondale Estates with a terrific lineup, including: Tenpenny Traveler, Shipwreckers, Three Quarter Ale, Old Road Silk Road, The Session, and Toucan Dubh. Local brewery Wild Heaven will play host to our crew as we celebrate our 20th anniversary.
135B Maple St, Avondale Estates, GA 30002, (404) 997-8589
Dreamed of by Captain Drew, greatly and fabulously abetted, planned and engineered by Fiona Leonard, Geoffrey Brown and Tracy Wilson, the very first PiratePalooza™ Pubcrawl transpired on Septembarrrr 17, 2005, netting nearly 100 patrons, both pirate and lubbers. Still remembered by what some calls an "impossible confluence" of Georgia-based minstrels, including: Juliana Finch, Wine Woman & Song, Joni Minstrel, Susan Hickey, and Three Quarter Ale.
Much ale was quaffed. Many barrels of wine consumed. Several mugs of grog were choked back. Some small amount of delicious port was sipped. Suffice to say that many grand hangovers were born that night and the event became pirate legend in short order. You should've been there, mate.
But it's not too late! Check the date! You may still have time to make it to the NEXT PiratePalooza™ Pubcrawl & Pubsing!!
